Here’s to the big 40! I think I’m going to enjoy this new decade 🙃

Fun fact: The Breakfast Club takes place on March 24th 1984, my exact birthday 😎

Aurora performing in Lisbon in July. I think I need to start saving for the ticket and convincing someone to go with me.

Having dinner at friends, bringing dessert: apple cake, salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream, to be assembled at the table ;-)

4th session of equine therapy and he’s riding 😍

Amazing work by the therapists, can’t wait to see what’s to come.

The small BIG victories

2nd month of occupational therapy and we’re already seeing wonderful progress.

B’s becoming more aware of his body and how to use it, and it allows him to be more available to communicate. He’s repeating more words, interacting more. He’s more patient, he’s allowed to do things to self-regulate without restraint (running around, jumping…), he’s more adventurous and he’s overall happier.

Today he went on a swing and held himself by his arms for the first time. It seems insignificant but it’s a big victory.

Mrs Doubtfire premiered when I was 9. I’ve watched it countless times from childhood to teenage years to young adulthood.

Watching it now, after becoming a mother and a divorce, is like discovering a new movie. Incredible how perception can change.

Ah, 1st year.

Where the list of school supplies is 1 km long and EACH kind of crayon must be INDIVIDUALLY tagged.

12 down, 42 to go.

😅

Entering a year of firsts

Yesterday was B’s first day at a new school, for his 1st year. Cannot believe he’s 6 already!

This year he’ll be in a public school, which has a Special Education Unit. Also a first.

He’ll start Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Equine Therapy and Snoezelen Room. All firsts.

I’m always anxious with transition periods, but actually I’m excited to see what these new adventures will bring 😊

Spending the week with my 14-year-old niece and her friend makes me remember this observation from Mr Bennet in Pride & Prejudice:

From all that I can collect by your manner of talking, you must be two of the silliest girls in the country. I have suspected it some time, but I am now convinced.

I’ve just watched A Man Called Otto. I didn’t know it was a book, then a movie before this one with Tom Hanks.

Now I want to read the book.

Beautiful movie!

There’s something so engaging about The Bear that I don’t even notice time passing when watching it. Incredible series. Really enjoying season 2 so far.

Have you ever listened to a song you haven’t heard in years, and been suddenly filled with the same feelings, mood, context and environment from the time you used to listen to it?

I feel like I’ve travelled through time. Such a rush!
